Anyone ever notice the difference in checkering patterns of the BCs variations?
My 38-55 (made in 2006) has no checkering on the bottom of the fore end though it is checked on the sides.
My 2001 or 2002 45-70 has small checkering patterns on the bottom of the fore end as well as the sides.
Anyone know what year they started putting the barrel lug engagement view port in the receiver.

The latch engagement port started last year, 2006.
I've got 2 BC forends, on 2004 and 2005 frames, both have checkering on the bottom. The BC carbine forend made this year has no checkereing on the bottom.
