RWH24,

I agree, they sound like they are going to be a great scope for the money.  I have not seen one yet.  My distributor is tell me that they are not going to be released until end of May-early June.  Can not wait to see one.

Isn't this one of the scopes that GB ordered for one of his many product reviews? (I guess maybe it was the Banner.)

I have one mounted on my Tikka Whitetail.  However I have not been able to try it out yet.  It is fairly bright (I need to do a low light comparison with some of my other scopes) to see how bright it is.  Also the color appears pretty good.  WIthout any comparisons and/or trying it out at the range or hunting, I can only state that it appears like a decent scope for the money.  The reticle is: 3-2-1, low light.  This is a modified "stepped down" duplex reticle, and it appears to be a decent design for general hunting.

I have read a review on Bushnell Legend binoculars (8 X 32), on betterview web page (for birders and nature lovers).  The review was really positive on these binoculars.  The review compared the Legend binoculars to another quality name brand, but did not state what series it was being compared too.

My take on Legends: A cost effective and fairly high quality optic, for my back up binoculars or back up rifle. :D

Rusty,

Are you saying that you have a new Bushnell Legend Scope with a 3-2-1 reticle on your Tikka right now. Did you get a reticle change?  Now I am really confused, since our distributor said they were not out yet.  I am going to have to check into that.

I am getting really confused now.  I was looking over my information on the Legend and my distributors sheets have the Legend coming with the 3-2-1 Reticle (which is what I have one the website, duh, LOL) but when I was looking at the New 2003 Bushnell catalog, the same model numbers come with the multi-X.  I am going to have to do some investigating on Monday.

Oh and don't forget to treat those mothers and wifes good tomorrow.  Hunting season is just around the corner again.

The 5x15 s look pretty interesting , but according to the specs they are long suckers ...........

sdgunslinger,

Just got done doing a little side by side comparison between the Trophy, Legend and Elite 3200

1. Clarity:  Legend and Elite had very little difference with both being crystal clear.  The trophy was little fussy.

2. Brightness:  Again the Legend and Elite were pretty much identical.  Outstanding brightness.  Trophy was a little darker.

3. Weight: (actually weighed them on a certified scale)
                 Trophy - 13.4oz
                 Elite -     13.8oz
                 Legend - 14.2oz

4. Made?:  Trophy- Korea
                Legend- Philippines
                Elite-  Japan

The Legend was the heaviest, but when you held them in your hand it did not feel like it.

Difference:  Legend - Like the Clarity & Brightness, Like the fast focus eyepiece - much easier to grab a hold of than the Trophy and Elite.  Couple things that I did not like, was the length & the power ring, which is to small and feels chincy. But those are things that I could live with.

If I were to rate it?  I would say that it is very close to the Elite 3200 series without the rainguard.  I think for the price, they are going to be a great buy.

Without even seeing a Legend, I would say the same thing.  My conclusion, however, comes from my perspective as a businessman and marketer.  Some people don't want to pay for the Elite 3200, but they want better optics than the Trophy.  Enters the Legend with no rainguard.

There is one other thing that escapes me, however.  The Elite is said to have 95% light transmission, where as the Elite 3200 is supposed to be about 88%.  The Legend is supposed to be 91%.  It sounds like Bushnell lowered the cost from the Elite 3200 by not applying rainguard, but instead raised the cost from the Trophy by putting in better optics.

One more observation - only the Elite 4200 and 3200 come with Bushnell's super great warranty.  I don't think that the same warranty applies to the Legend.

You are correct about the warranty. There are three 4200s here, two 3200's, and one Legend 5 x 15 Mil-Dot.

The Legend lacks the stronger titanium tube, warranty, and Rainguard. The adjustments are quite mushy compared to any of the Elites. The stated brightness above is correct, however-- the Elite 3200 has more clarity, and depth of field to my eyes. The Elite 3200 is a far better hunting scope in all respects that I can think of. The "brightness," Legend vs. Elite 3200 is very close, but the Elite 3200 is just a better made tube.

The cost of the Legend was lowered by using a cheaper tube, a lesser warranty, cheaper adjustments, and cheaper labor.

Neither is as bright or as clear as the 4200s.
