Older Stevens Model56/Buckhorn
« on: August 01, 2007, 12:20:53 PM »
I have an older Stevens rifle(.22 lr-l-s) It is a bolt gun with detachable magazine.  The top of the barrel is marked Stevens  MOD.56,  bottom of barrel is marked Stevens Buckhorn Rifle.  It was probably from the 1930's era as it belonged to my 86 year old father in law as a youngster.  It also has a Diopter type reciever sight on the side of the reciever and a folding rear sight.  I can't find any info. or value.  Any help would be appreciated,   Walt

I have a 66B which is the tube fed version These rifles were made from 1935-1948 . I find them interesting  but there is not a huge collector's interest in them .The value for one in real  good shape is probably $100.00.Mine is kinda rough but it was given to me for free and has extraction issues, It was having ejection issues but I fixed that and it needs refinishing on the stock and metal ,something I would not do if it was collectable at all.Shootrj2003
