Claw extractor on new model 70?
« on: September 12, 2007, 05:17:45 PM »
I was in a pawn shop today and saw a model 70 30-06 with a claw extractor. The rifle looked brand new with a scnauble fore end. The bolt had a number e graved on it that matched the last 4 digits of the number on the receiverr. Any clues on what it was . the serial number starts with g and has seven digits.

That sounds like a Model 70 Featherweight Classic, first introduced in 1994 with CRF (controlled round feed) ILO push-feed.

It also should have had "ribbon" checkering, which is a solid ribbon of uncheckered stock wood, weaving across the middle of each checkered panel in a french curve shape.

They sell for about $500 bareback & used, but in minty condition, here in the Northeast.   I paid $525 for a pristine 6.5X55mm with a Leupold 2-7X33 scope, about 10mos ago.
