.204 ammo in bulk
« on: July 17, 2007, 04:03:42 AM »
I did not see an exact site in the Ammunition portion to ask this question...so I figured to try it here.  I am looking for anyone who has had luck finding .204 in bulk.  I have seen it advertised at Cabelas, but I find it hard to believe they are the only ones who have it.
They show a Hornady .204 in a 32 grain for about 159.00 per 200 rounds.    I know that Hornady , and the Winchester .34 grain do best in my CZ .204.   Just wondered if anyone had found a good price on .204 in bulk.  Heck maybe 159 $/200 rounds is a good price...
thanks

Try HSM.  I haven't priced it recently but last time I bought it it was alot less than that.  Good results too in my rifle.

You don't find 204 in bulk often and none of it is inexpensive - it looks as if HSM provides the ammo to Cabela's. The 204 bullets are more costly from mfg's than bulk 223 so it adds to the basic cost being higher.

It looks like the 204 from HSM has it in a 32 , 33 ,39, and 40 grain ...all saying 50 rounds per box on their price sheet.....for around 26 to 30 bucks a box.  Is that the way you read it ??

When I checked Wisconsin Cartridge this weekend, they were out of the .204.  I had bought 200 rounds from them earlier this summer.  They shot well in my NEF.  They only offer them in the 40gr V-Max.  So I am looking for bulk as well.

I called them as well, said they would make them based on a 5 box ( 250 round) order.   So I am gonna order a 500 rounder here in a few months.....I have enough to last me till October or November...

Did Wisconsin Cartridge say how much the .204 would cost for a 250 or 500 round order?  They show $0.00 on the website and won't let you order them from the website.  I have a couple of other calibers that I need to order that are in stock.

no , they did not, but I think the 32 grain units were about 23. bucks for a box of 50....so , the math says about 115 or 120 bucks for an order of 250 .......pretty good I think....she asked me my zip code ( I am in Missouri) she said freight outta be about 18 bucks....

When I ordered from them in April the .204 Ruger 40gr V-Max were priced at $50.00 per 100 rounds.  So $23.00 per box of 50 is a good thing.  Did you ask about 32gr?  The only .204 I saw on their website was the 40gr V-Max.

Their pricing for the .223 55gr V-Max in April was $290.00 per 1,000 rounds.  I see on the website that it is now $320.00 per 1,000.  A couple of friends went in with me and we ordered about $900 worth of ammo.  Shipping to IL was only $33.00, it came in two very heavy boxes.

Well this is ammo from the Hunters Shack .....in Montana......sorry if I confused this with Wisconsin cartridge....one of the links below references the hunters shack...that is who I called, and that is the folks that spoke of the 32 grain v max for 23.87 for a box of 50...with a 5 box min order......that's .48 cents a round.......alot less than that .79 cents cabelas advertises......

I just ordered and received these from Sportsmansguide.com  .204 Ruger 39gr BT

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=293303

Ordered over the weekend and they were here yesterday.  With the "club" pricing they worked out to $26.83 a box of 50 when I ordered 200 rounds plus shipping.  Next order I'll try The Hunter's Shack.

I called Wisconsin Cartridge to check the status of their .204 ammo.  He said that they order it ONCE a year in the spring.  So they won't be ordering again until next spring.
