Sako M591 trigger
« on: June 04, 2003, 02:34:32 AM »
Anyone know of any replacement triggers or parts for a sako m591 trigger. I've got a rifle where the lightest trigger pull obtainable is 3.25 lbs. Spring replacement will cause the safety to malfunction. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what model you have. Are you refering to an L579 or perhaps the L61? If so Timney produces triggers. Why do you wish to lighten a trigger below 3 lbs.?  I always reccomend 3-3 1/2 pounds as minimum weight of a hunting rifle. Anything lower greatly accentuates the accidental discharge risk..

gunnut69- it's a m591 action. I have other sako's but this is the only m591. In schematics the tikka rifle actions look very similar. This rifle will be used as a varmint rifle so it wont be carried around. It has a heavy hart barrel and an Ian Robertson stock. I would like to lighten the trigger if possible.

Sorry I haven't worked on one of those yet. Most triggers can be made to function well at around 3 pounds and that, if smooth, is a very controllable weight. If you wish less you are probably looking for competition grade triggers. I would contact M.H. Canjar Co.6510 Raleigh St.Arvada, CO. 80003 .  I have never found a website for them but if a trigger is available they may be able to help.
