« on: May 25, 2003, 11:21:47 AM »
I have a 1500 SS 223 Bull Barrel that shoots way better than I do, really enjoy shooting it, Problem: Trigger is inconsistent (Creep). Anyone able to help with trigger adjustment?

I have the same rifle, a 1984 Smith & Wesson model. Same problem too. I finally got sick of it and took the trigger assembly off. There are 2 screws, oposing sides of the trigger assembly. I can't say exactly how I did it but each has a locking nut. Just loosen and play with the screw depth on each side. Make sure the safety is working when you are done. I finally got mine to break around 2 lbs. with no creep. Before it would hit 3 different stages before firing. Now it works much better.

I have a Howa 1500 and their is two locking nuts with screws.  The back one is for creep and the front one is for trigger pull.

Loosen the back locking nut up and turn the screw clockwise a little pit and tighten the locking nut back up.  If you go to far the saftety won't work, not a problem just back it off a little until the safety does work.  You are not going to get all the creeb out of it, I had to take mine to my gunsmith and he took it all out of it.  The front screw is for trigger pull and just loosen the locking nut up and loosen the screw counterclock wise until you get the trigger pull you want and then tighten the locking nut back up.

You have to play with these a littlbe bit, don't get in a hurry.

I'm glad you got it down to where you wanted it.  Sounds like she is really shooting, I agree with you the stock has to go.
