Yugo AK-47 Underfolder
« on: August 21, 2007, 08:18:56 PM »
I just picked up a new Yugo AK-47 underfolder (M70AB2) and it rocks! No FTF or FTE, runs like a fine clock with Wolf ammo. I'm not sure what that large flip up sight is about that lays flat over the top of the forearm stock. Can anyone enlighten me on it?
It came with black synthetic furniture, and looks very sharp.
All I need now is a sling and few more magazines.
Does anyone have anything to say about this rifle, pro or con?

The gun will be ultra reliable, that is why the Ak-47 is used by almost every country in the middle east. They last and are cheap costs wise to make.  The Yugo versions have received a bad rap but who knows why?  I guess it is because they are so abundant right now. I have found the Yugo versions to on par with anything out there. Don't expect it to be accurate though.  If it will hit a pie plate @100 or 6", it is doing about all it can do.  It is a minute of solider gun and not meant to be accurate.  I know the Saiga's are a little better in the accuracy department and they are built on the AK.  I saw one that made a 2"group @100 in 308.  IT belonged to a friend.

I don't have a AK as you describe but the flip up sight is probably for a grenade launcher.  Lots of the SKS's have them.

The Russian Izhmash Saiga is as good as the ak's get as far as accuracy.  The russians at izhmash have found out the american calibers of 308 and 223 are a tad more accurate in there saiga's over the russian calibers.  They think its the design of the bullet case.(brass)  My saiga in 308 with south african 308 ball ammo benchrested at 100yds will shoot 1 1/2" group with me or my son shooting it.  I think thats awesome accuracy for an ak.  I'm sure that reloading could tighten the groups up even more too. The russians did focus on making the saiga's more accurate than the other ak's and they did.  Were able to purchase a brand new russian izhmash saiga sporter thats an new russian ak in a sporter wrapper for under $400 thats hard to beat.  The saiga can do both roles without a problem it can go hunting and be a beater/plinker too and still hold up to all the abuse you can give it after all thats the AK track record so far.  The saiga has the famous russian chrome lined barrel that will last for many 1,000's of rounds so i lube the receiver up with moly so the moving parts will last that long too.  Moly eliminates all wear and reduces friction, it also fights against corrosion too. The Saiga (ak) will cycle faster and smoother too.  I put some moly on the trigger sear  and some in the gas tube/piston too.  The trigger on the saiga will feel like it has an expensive trigger job done on it too.  The saiga/ak is a whole different gun once its lubed with moly...(TS70)  All my guns are lubed with moly my guns never leave home without it......

I like all the other ak's too and i think the ak pistol is really neat.
