Broke down and bought a SOG seal pup.
« on: April 02, 2007, 08:53:39 AM »
I've been looking for a mid sized fixed blade for such a long time and I finally settled on the SOG seal pup.  It's not perfect but it's as close as I could find after all my searching.  I wanted something under 11" long, partially serrated and it had to have a "good" sheath.  I can't stand leather, or kydex sheaths.  For me the only way to go is the nylon sheath with the extra pouch on front.  I also really like that the handle is rubber and won't get slippery if/when it gets wet.  I just like the handy size of these and the versatility of the sheath is very nice.  It'll be with me when I go fishing and bear hunting this August.

For the price I think these knives are hard to beat, what do you all think?

It finally showed up at the house and it's great.  I thought I remembered the handle being a little more rubber like but it was still pretty good.  I love the nylon sheath and the knife has a great manageable feel to it.  It's as sharp as I could ever hope for and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Probably the best knife I own.  Perfect shape and size.  I have a custom kydex sheath for mine.  Makes the whole package slightly smaller.

Kydex sheaths are very nice, but I just love having the extra accessory pouch on my nylon sheath.  Those pouches are perfect for small flashlights.

I have two,, they are good knives. I have both the kydex and nylon. I like the nylon better. The kydex was made to make the full size seal knife Jump rated. Of course it;s little brother the seal pup was offered with one as well.

I like the full sized ones too.  I might have bought one but I already had a Ka-Bar D2 serrated from my time in the service and that takes care of my big knife needs.  The pup was more for my light work.
