H&R pistols---broken?
« on: July 27, 2007, 06:02:09 PM »
I was reading some of the older messages, and noticed several about malfunctioning revolvers. If you want to get rid of any, let me know. I like making guns work. Sometimes, it doesn't take much. I fixed a Mossberg 500 with feeding problems by using two pliers. An Iver Johnson pistol with unreliable ignition was "repaired" by removing the grass stem that was lodged between the hammer and the breech face. :) I've even reassembled a detail-stripped old Stevens shotgun that my (ex) brother-in-law brought to me in a cardboard box---he'd "bought it cheap!" He won some turkey shoots with that 30" barrelled gun.

I bought a 999 in the late 70's as a companion for my Marlin 39, and made slim walnut grips to replace the monstrous "target" grips, so my wife could get her hand around it. It's been a great plinker.
