I've always prefered 14"+ barrels in 7mm and under bore.  I'm kind of wanting a 45LC in a 10" barrel (not the 410 chocked model).  Anyone have one?  How do you like it and what kind of velocities do you get with lead bullets?

I don't have one, but will try to give you at least an idea on velocity.  It will depend on how you load it.  If you use standard data with say a cast 260 gr. bullet, Hogdon shows 1067fps from a 7 1/4" barrel.  With the "Ruger, Freedom Arms, and T/C Only" data, they move a jacketed 260 gr. bullet 1312fps from the same barrel length.  A lead bullet would move slightly faster (less friction).

You'll be looking at velocities in those vicinities or higher with a 10" T/C barrel.

contendernut, using H110, I'm able to push a 330 gr cast bullet to 1450 fps. The load doesn't seem too hot, the cases (Winchester) will last for over 20 firings. I never tried to get the velocity any higher. I think I could get more velocity, but at 1450 fps, the recoil is very heavy. I have a 14", 45/70 barrel that's Mag-Na-Ported. I shoot the same 330 gr. bullet at 1550 fps. The recoil from the 45 colt barrel is higher then the 45/70 barrel. I hunt black bear and white tail deer. A 330 gr bullet at 1450 fps is all the power I need to 150 yds. I had an Aimpoint the barrel for a while and I could shoot 2 1/4" groups at 100 yds.  8)
