Ruger #1 tang safety

When I eject a fired cartridge from My #1, the Rim of the cartridge hits the top of the safety
and falls back into the chamber.  I've been thinking about having a smith grind the top down, so the case clears the safety and ejects out of the way.  Anyone else have this problem? AND what did
you do to alleviate this?

You can have a smith to modify the thumb slide or do it yourself, or tild the rifle to one side this will throw the case out of the way,
reduce the ejection spring pressure so the empty case stays on the shelve so you can pick it up easy.

I have four of these rifles and never found the thumb slide to be of great
hinderence. Besides I am a handloader and don't like to hunt for empty cases.

I know shooters have been belly aching about the subject, but Ruger has
never done anything about it. On a DG rifle I would have the slide safty
ground down or inletted in the tang.

My 270 does not do that ..
the 45 70 does, though..
cannot the ejector force be kicked up a notch.

The force of the ejector can be adjusted.
Remove the fore end and the ejector is controlled by the large spring.

Thanks, I'll try to increase and decrease the tension, to see if one way works better than the other.   I'm not a handloader, but I don't like to leave spent casings behind.  I knew #1's could be adjusted to lift or eject spent casings, I just didn't know how.  Will report back later....

I am going to play with mine too.. see if cranking her up kicks em against then over the safety edge...if not then cranking it down enough to just pop back enough for me to easily grab and pocket the brass quiet and neat like... I always shoot with the No. One and then keep it lined up to look through the scope and seldom if ever have put another bullet in very quickly, knowing there is one shot is kinda different.... now my AR.... affects my shooting a bit differently....LOL

Well, I ran the tension up and down last night, I didn't care for it either way.  Canting the rifle while ejecting the cartridge worked pretty well.  I'm am going to take it to a machinist and either have it inletted or shortened.  I could dismantle it and gring the safety down, but I want it to look nice when its done.  I like my #1,( its such a classy looking rifle), but I only carry it when the weather's nice and I intend to sit and watch most of the day.  It's such an easy fix, you'd think Ruger would just change the CNC paramenters and crank out slightly smaller slides.....  Thanks for the help.
