Rino Price Drop, New Models Coming!
« on: May 24, 2007, 09:18:07 AM »

I understand that you can order the Garmin Rino 530 from Wal Mart online for $309.  That is way below the list price.  I believe the reason is that retailers will have the new 520HCX and 530HCX sometime in June.  This is a saving of more then $100.00.

I am betting that Garmin will drop the Rino 520/530 in the next year.  It is the time for buyers to be aware that these are good items but do not pay full retail.  A friend has ordered the Rino 530 and plans on getting a companion HCX model down the road.

For those who use the Rino to track other partners positions the new HCx models with a high-sensitivity receiver will do a far better job, based on my experience with the Garmin 76C which has the same processor as the 520/530 and my 76Cx which has the high sensitivity receiver.

I'm considering buying the Rhino 350HCX. How do you like the Rino? is the screen big enough? I'm also considering the 60csx but I really like the idea of being able to track other Rhino users. Any advise you can give..... I've never owned a GPS.

The Rino 350HCX has a slightly smaller screen then the 60CSX, but a larger screen then my old Garmin Legend.  The screen size should not be a problem in the field.  But most handheld screens can present problems while driving.  Garmin married the 60CSX/76CSX gps guts to a radio.  It is a good marriage.  I can see one in my distant future.
