To start this I will say I personally do not believe in the "seasoning" program other for cast iron frying pans. Stainless or in that matter blue rifle barrel (usually 1041 steel) usually do real well without "seasoning". You may have to shoot the rifle some to polish the bore (solid lead conicals are best for this). If you don't have the time to shoot a lot before intending to hunt you might consider running a few patches up and down the barrel over a brass brush coated with JB bore paste. This will polish fine burrs that are not visible and make the rifle less sensitive to machining roughness. I did the JB bore paste on my stainless Omega and it made loading easier and smoothed up the barrel. I put a brass brush on a range rod and covered it with a patch then coated the patch with JB and ran it up and down the full length of the barrel 200 times. I changed patches and added fresh JB about every 50 passes. This is not a lapping compound and will remove very little material. It is slightly more abrasive than tooth paste. I would do this from the breech end to avoid rod contact with the muzzle crown. Others will have other opinions I am sure, but that is the way talk forums work.
