CMP M1 Garand Service Grade Accuracy?
« on: September 07, 2007, 07:47:25 AM »
Does anyone have one of these and if so, how accurate are they?  The CMP has them back in stock and who knows for how long.

When you say very accurate are you talking about 1 1/2" at 100 yards or less than 1" at 100 yards?  I've fired a buddies and they are incredible weapons, but I never shot it for accuracy so I don't really know what to expect.

Ah, remember that these are surplus rifles offered used "As is" from  CMP. I have two very nice copies of the Service Grade and they shoot fairly accurately.  Keep in mind that these battle rifles were designed to be accurate to "Minute of Torso".   I can ring the 300 yd gong at the range with mine. At 100 yds they shoot within the seven ring.  You can have them worked and almost restored to original condition for a lot bigger investment.  With a new barrel I'm sure they would please you, but I believe that auto-loading rifles are not all that accurate.  I'll keep mine as they are for now for historic collectibles.  Hope this helps you.
