Screw pitch on a 336RC scope mount holes?
« on: September 15, 2007, 04:58:38 AM »
I asked this on a different forum but, didn't get any replies, let's try here?

I just got a .35 Remington model 336RC and the holes in the top of receiver look over sized to me? Were these originally drilled and tapped 8/40? Serial number of this gun is AB36272 for dating purposes, making it born in 1966.
There is no filler screw that came with rifle, so, I would like to fill with the proper thread pitch. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated?
Don't plan on scoping this rifle, I've got a nice Redfield peep with an adjusstablle Merit apenture, I'd like to install for hunting.

I do believe that is normal, 8-40.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
