bear trap identification???
« on: September 12, 2007, 03:28:44 PM »
hi all,i was recently given a large bear trap by my father in-law,i guess he finally decided not to use it on me,lol.the trap is old and weathered to the point that ,even after a good strong wire brushing i can not find any markings.if i post a pic,is there anyone here who may be able to identify it?it does not appear to be homemade, has teeth, the latch is integral to the pan,pan is square with angled corners, riveted on,has what appears to be a lenght of the original chain + some extra.trap is all intact,i was advised not to compress the springs, due to their age,but the trap does appear to be functional, all parts move freely.let me know if you think you can help,i appreciate it,adker
