GETTING CLOSE
« on: August 30, 2007, 05:54:18 PM »
Summer is almost done.2 months till our water season begins.
I should be dipping my traps while it is still hot out,but the heavy convention season is now upon us.Seems like I am always getting my own stuff ready at the last minute. But customers come first.
Right now I am making cable restraints, slidewires, snares and cabling Berkshires.Got my lure bottled, but need to label it---1 ounce bottles are a real pain.
Got orders coming in from Asa Lenon,Blackies Blend, and a few others.Next week I am picking up a glove order and have Gauntlets coming.
I am working on a new catalog--I hate having to sit in one spot for so long, but my wife says she is going to do some of the computer work so that should help.
How many of you gents are actually ready for this upcoming season?
 Tom

Conventions have taken a good part of my summer also.  I still have been able  to spend some time in the fur shed every week.  Been tuning my water traps, adding chains, replacing tags and getting them ready for dip.   Spend a good part of each day looking towards the horizon hoping for rain.  I doubt I could drown a field mouse in some of my  local creeks !

Need to find the time to build more Weasels boxes also.  So much to do so little time !!

Hey Tom, did you get that order of quick snaps in yet, Also if you need any help with your catalog, Ill will be glad to help you. I forgot to say something at mta conv . I' am still pretty handy with a computer and it's always nice to use the my school 2,000 dollar laptop for trapping and hunting stuff.

Tom
I never feel truly ready for anything. I have in some cases more time than most people because of my job schedule. That said I also like to do maybe way more things than I should. I have the diving, metal detecting, search stuff. When I get off the computer checking mail and such I have to get tree stands and things packed to leave Monday for my bear hunt, and I work tomorrow. There is camping at marshfield Thursday through Sunday for the WTA. From there it's straight  back to the big camper for more bear hunting/fishing/early goose, whatever comes in what order. I'm off work till the 16th and don't plan to collect any dust.
I did do a better than usual job of putting traps away after last season. So many of them are actually ready to go in the field. I still have probably a days worth to go though that will need tuning and dip or dye. I don't really have much of anything I need to buy at Marshfield. So hopefully that means I can't be to out of whack having trapping stuff ready.
Been invited north for a 4 day bow deer hunt first part of Oct. Fall is busy busy for me. Then there is the possibility's of coming up that way to work at your I-35 bridge site. But that is all up in the air at this point.
I stepped outside at work after dark last night. The air had that cool fresh fall-ish smell that only starts at this time of year. One big breath of that and I felt more relaxed, went to bed and was out like a light.
