bait preservative

I got a pretty large amount of trout that died from a gill disease at a local trout nursery.  I threw them in the freezer but am planning on running them through a course food grinder for use as bait.  What can be mixed with them to keep them from rotting?  I know that if they are tainted a little bit it will likely be fine for coons, etc. but maybe not completely rotted...

Sodium benzoate, you can get it from most trapping suppliers.

just my thoughts but i would package em in about 3 days worth and just freeze em and use em fresh, after you ground them,
