Important Question
« on: September 06, 2007, 11:51:46 AM »
I’m thinking about selling my .204 Bull barrel (want the .223 standard) here on the classified forum but need to know a few things.

1)   How do I ship it?  What is probably the best way to keep the barrel safe?
2)   What is the average price for the shipping?
3)   What has been the best way to receive payments?
4)   Is the item usually shipped after receiving payment or before?

Thanks for your help!

rr

In order

1) Get a cardboard tube from the local PO , their about $3 and a roll of bubble wrap for another $3 , wrap the barrel so it fits snug in the tube and put some extra wrap in the ends about 2" thick , tape the end caps well with packing tape .

2) Shipping will depend on were it is going , about $10 to $15 at the most ( Express Mail )

3) Payment works best with a USPS Money Order or if your set up for it PayPal

4) In most cases it is best to wait for payment , but if you have read the persons feedback and feel ok about it sometimes the barrel and the payment will pass each other in the mail .

If you haven't shipped a package thru the mail since the USPS rate change in May, you may be surprised at the cost now, a 4lb Express mail package to zone 8 will cost $27.60, $13.45 Priority, parcel post will be $9.25, plus insurance and/or delivery confirmation, they aren't as reasonable as they used to be, more in line with the common carriers.  :(

Yes, fuel costs impact the USPS big time, from the USPS facts provided by Merrimack College....

* When fuel costs rise just one cent, our costs increase $8 million

OK, so I've been reading a bit on the classified and have found some acronyms that I don't understand, can you help me with these and any others that I'm missing?  For example, some of the subject lines start with WTB or WTT, then in the body of the text, things like this appear.

WTT
WTB
SPF
FFT

HELP!?

WTT = want to trade

WTB = want to buy

SPF = sold pending funds

FFT you mean  FTF = face to face

     or

FFL = Federal Firearms Licensee
