Lee Loader help
« on: June 26, 2003, 07:22:42 AM »
How do you know where to start with a lee loader?  Do you start with the seating depth too long and then keep tightening till it is the correct length?  Is there a trick to making the adjustment for the correct length?

Thanks.

bullet seating depth

Yes, the general rule is to seat the bullet shallow, and try it in the rifle chamber (with firing pin removed, and gun pointing in a safe direction, PLEASE!

Keep seating the bullet deeper until the bolt will close and lock.  The bullet will just start to show marks where the rifling "engraved" it.  That should be your optimum seating depth.

Now check to make sure that cartridges will feed through your magazine.  If not, seat the bullet deeper until they do.
