Boyds Thumbhole stock any good?
« on: September 05, 2007, 01:18:26 PM »
You all that have ordered these stocks, are you pleased with them.  Do they fit without much trouble?

Thanks,

I have one factory fitted on a 243 Ultra Varmint, the other I bought on ebay, it fits and works perfect on the 7x57, but I can't say the same has been true for everyone else that bought them on ebay. They aren't available from H&R....yet, for those on ebay, buyer beware.  :-\

I bought two on EBay. Both arrived and work perfectly.
One was NOT what it was descrided to be. I arrived at a monitary agreement with the seller and I am satisfied.
The other was exactly as described.

You had to ask, didn't you? One of mine had a void in the laminate, the other didn't even have a fitted recoil pad. Neither one of them fit the receiver. Those crooks still selling them on ebay?

I can't say anything about Boyds except their web-site sucks to navigate. I can tell you that I have done business with Gunstocks Inc and find them to be very reputable. I have had their Stinger thumbhole stock in walnut and liked it very much. Quality and fit was perfect. I put a laminated thumbhole on a 25-06 and my customer was very pleased with the outcome. I would recommend them to everyone. JMHO - F50

Gunstocks Inc is a GBO sponsor and a very good source if you want a stock that is rough finished, but if you're like me and don't care to do that type of fairly intense finish work,  Boyd's are much to my liking as are those that H&R offers. ;)  There's a list of GBO sponsors on the GBO home page, you can get there by clicking the GBO logo in the upper right corner of any forum page.
