There is some good deer hunting near Charlotte in the Uwarhiee National Forest. I'm in Asheville the western part. The central and eastern part has better hunting than the western part. Good luck on your move.

I'm with James.  I'm originally from western NC.  Deer hunting is much better in the central and eastern parts of the state.  The western part has good bear and boar hunting.  I can't tell you much around the Charlotte area but know there is some fine deer hunting  close by.

Good bear hunting in the eastern part. A friend of mine killed a 600lb bear 3yrs ago down near the coast. They grow big there.

Yep, the eastern part of the state is the best for bears but the western part isn't too shabby.  The bigger bears are on the east coast.

LOst Okie, Did ya make it to NC ??

There are not many restrictions as to what rifle you can use Statewide, however there are some counties and or townships that have local restictions.
Shotgun, the standard, nothing larger than 10ga. with some game requiring that the gun be plugged.

Handguns used for big game can't be less than .24cal.
