« on: September 09, 2007, 03:53:25 PM »
I HAVE A ENCORE 50 CALIBER THAT I CHANGED THE STOCKS OUT ON LAST FALL . an when i went to shoot it before season opened my groups opened up from 1" to bout 4-5" with the same powder load an bullets that i have used in it from day 1  . do you think it is a stock to tight problem or a wscope going bad ? my scope is a 3x9 x50 tasco world class .

I have switched stocks on several of my Encores with no change in my point of impact. I have gone from the pro hunter stock to a walnut thumb hole stock and my gun was right where I left it. The only thing I would guess at is, maybe the stock put you at a different angle.
If  you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

Did you switch the forearm also? I have not seen this cause an issues with a ML forearm but I need to watch when I put rim fire barrel on. The forearm for it will rub on side of the action over the hinge pin if i do not install it with care. This pressure seems to change after each shot and it dose spreads the groups. I modified mine by sanding it a touch and I place spacers on both sides of the action as i tighten the forearm screws down to keep it centered.

My first thought is the scope base or mounts. Last time I had any issues with my ML I bought powder, primers and a dozen other things only to find two lose screws in the base about two days and three dozen rounds later. I could not feel any movement in the scope but once i tightened the base it went back to moa.
keep your powder dry !!!

I only know one way to find out. Have some fun at the range ;D ;D You may want to remove the scope and check the base first though.
