Unhappy with new barrel order delivery

I ordered a new .223 bull, a 12ga turkey and a .50 black powder barrel.  That was over 2 months ago.
When I called NEF they were very nice but could not give me a date on delivery.  At least 6 weeks, I was told, from last week!
They said it was the .50 BP barrel that was holding up the order.
BP season starts next week here in KS.
I know I should have ordered sooner but I thought that 8 weeks would be sufficient.  Wrong again.

This is my first order from NEF.  I asked to be notified upon shipment so I can watch for it.  (in small town UPS just leaves on porch) 
in your experience will they notify?

They can't ship what they don't have...and shipments can be delayed for numerous reasons...It is not always first in...first out either...They do have a toll free number you can call in on to check on your order...which is what I do...it's easier than checking my e-mail...which isn't always the greatest...When you call again...ask to be notified of the tracking number so you can see when to expect it...

In my experience, they will not notify you, and someone 18 or older will have to sign for the package. That is the way they (H&R/NEF) send out all their UPS shipments I was told by UPS. I even had to sign for a couple sets of sights and a ramrod 2 years ago, didn't even have a barrel or receiver in the box. UPS would not leave it, and because of my work schedule, I would miss the UPS truck by about an hour. So the only way to get it was to drive two hours round trip, plus the time wasted at the regional UPS pick-up. I paid to have it delivered to my door, but it doesn't always work that way.

I did get to talk to the driver and he was nice enough to let me meet him in a nearby town and sign for it there. That is the price I pay for living in the sticks. Still worth it.

I just talked with NEF today concerning my order and also muzzle loader barrels.  I originally was going to add one to my order but changed my mind after they told me about the wait.  You can have them send your order now if everything else is complete.  There is a muzzle loader barrel for sale in the NEF classifieds, I don't know how long your BP season is, but you might still make it.
