First of all, who told you to avoid Bushnells?   I was going to recommend the Trophy or even the lower Banner line.

.22LRs obviously do not have any recoil to worry about.  As such, you really don't need a super tough scope.  However, one should still be ever so mindful about the quality of optics and, much more importantly, the tracking.

You can get a reasonable scope for about $100, and the Bushnell Trophy and Banner are in that range.

For a little bit more money you could look at the Elite 3200 and Nikon Buckmasters.

For the most part the rimfire rifles here wear Leupold Compact 3-9s with the AO feature and extended focus range. Really nice scopes for rimfires but way over the $100 mark.

One of them (specifically Mrs. GB's rifle) wears a Weaver 2-7 which I will be taking off and replacing with one of the Bushnells that I now have as test subjects. I just have to decide which one will find its permanent home there.

Which brings me to this. If you have $100 to spend and would like to have it I'll ship you the Weaver 2-7 for that amount of money. It has never been on any rifle but hers and to my knowledge she has never even fired it since I mounted that scope for her. I have sighted it in for her but that's likely all it has been used so scope is basically like new.

I just put a Weaver 2X7 rimfire on my Remington 541 and so far I like it just fine. I need to move it back in the rings a little because I got it to far forward for bench shooting.

After reading much info on this site, I dug deeper into my pocket to purchase a scope. I pondered the Weaver 2x7 offered by GB. However after further research I found he mentioned to someone else he wouldn't want one on his rifle. Thanks to Zachary for your Very knowledgeable response. Jon @ The Optic Zone called me back ( Long Distance ) to help me with my purchase. Being in sales I really appreciated his " Going the extra mile ". Shipping was extremely fast. This is a true businessman who knows how to take care of his customer. His prices are very low and I would recommend The Optic Zone to anyone looking to purchase a scope. Thanks Jon . I guarantee my next scope purchase will be from The Optic Zone !!!    Oh yes , Which scope did I purchase ? After much browsing at my local ( overpriced ) Sporting goods store ( $299.00 ) I found the optics unbelieveably clear in my new scope the Bushnell 3200 3x9x40 ,  $169.00 from The Optic Zone............

You just got yourself one heck of a scope.  The Elite 3200 is an excellent scope and, although perhaps really nice for a .22, there really is no such thing as "too good optics" for any gun.

I think that you are going to be VERY pleased with the Elite 3200 - probably as much are you were with Jon at the Optic Zone!

Let us know what you think of the scope after you have it mounted on your gun.

I bought a 3200 Elite 3-9x40 from D&R Sports for $156.80 last year.  Put it on my T/C Black Diamond muzzle loader; works great: brighter and clearer than my Leupolds, and hasn't changed zero after a few dozen shots.

Forgot to mention that I have a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 on my .22 magnum, and it has been an outstanding scope, very bright and clear, and helps make the rifle a tack-driver at 100 yards.  Think I paid $89.95 at Shyda's in Lebanon  (or Lancaster?) Pennsylvania 3 or 4 years ago.
