sb2 receiver
« on: September 14, 2007, 03:14:52 PM »
I have a handi-rifle I bought in 2004 in .270 . I have just received a .357 mag barrel this week. Before I took the barrel off and sent it in I was getting real good groups. W ill this change when I re-install the barrel? I would like to know where to buy an  sb2 receiver to put  my other barrel on so I don't have to swap them all the time. Also I would like to buy a laminate stock and forend (the swirly-grain looking colored) kind I have seen on some of your rifles.Where can I buy those? Any info appreciated.

Since I have found this site I have been  reading and looking more in  the last 2 months than I have in the last 5 years on a computer. GREAT SITE!!

Thanks ,
Anthony

Welcome back, Anthony!

You're best bet to get another frame is buy a complete rifle, then sell the barrel, but frames are available in the NEF Classifieds here as well as on some of the gun auction sites.  You can also get the stock set on the complete rifle as well as in the Classifieds here and on Ebay also, or just order a new set from H&R.

GBO sponsor Gunstocks Inc offers some very nice replacement stocks if you care to finish it yourself.

Your 270 barrel should shoot fine, they don't change the frame when they fit new barrels, changes are only done to the barrel, just as you may need to do to the barrel after you get another frame to put it on, see the barrel fitting info in the FAQs. ;)

Thank you Tim.
So if I understand this right, I won't need to send the frame back to H&R to get the barrel fitted if I find one of the newer sb2 frames. Correct?

You may luck out and it fit the frame you buy...but...it may not...and will have to be fitted to it by you or your gunsmith..Check the FAQ's for barrel fitting...it isn't that hard..
