Have any of u guys converted a 10/22 to a 17 mach 2? i was wondering how well it shoots and feeds the ammo i have a brand new marlin 717 mach2 it jamb  so i had to send it back to the factory hopeing they get it fixed i was wonder about a mach2 in a auto loader this 1 dont seem to be the best brand  should have bought a bolt i new better than to buy a auto matic but i did  >:(

Here's mine.Eabco barrel and handle.Works like a dream and shoots just fine.1/4"or less at 25yds out to about 75.Then goes to about 1/2" out to 125yds.You just have to clean the chamber a little more often.The cases get stuck and don't eject after about 50-75 rounds.Check out rimfirecentral.com several guys there have done the conversion.Slow

Here is a picture of my conversion.

I really love the the rifle and the little .17 round.  I even stopped shooting my .22 calibers.  I have not had any issues with mine at all.  since you are a rim-fire kind of guy I am sure you love creating the gun, and then shooting it.

I have an early 10-22 that I never shoot and would like to convert to .17Mach2 but I must admit I am somewhat unfamiliar with 10/22's. All I have ever done to this gun is replace the original stained birch type stock with an original Walnut stock and at one time I did buy an additional factory magazine and another 30 or 50 round magazine I have never used. I have probably fired less than a box of ammo from this gun since I bought it (slightly used) many years ago. How much cost is involved in replacing the barrel and converting to .17Mach2? I wouls want an accurate barrel in my gun. I am pretty sure I could do the barrel replacement since I have worked on many different firearms but have very little experience with my 10/22...I must say my H&R/NEF Sportster in .17Mach2 is probably the most accurate gun I have, out to it's effective range at least...Thanks in advance....<><....:)

P.S.could I use the same walnut factory stock for the new barrel?

MSP - There are quite a few conversions done over at RFC and they all said it is really easy - just swap out the barrel and the bolt handle, for the most part.  For your regular stock, you would simply need to get one in a Sporter barrel configuration (vs. a 0.920 bull) - I have seen the basic barrel/bolt handle combos for as little as $145.  I have been real tempted to do this with the one 10/22 that I have... but haven't been able to justify it yet (as I already have 3 bolt HM2s and they fill any need that I really have).

Hey MSP.Try this out.The barrel is for a 96/22,but will fit the 10 22 just fine with no mods.The only difference is a second ejector slot that doesn't hurt a thing.It's a factory taper also so no mods,maybe a little sanding out the barrel channel.Then look on http://www.shootersolutions.com/1022midhandle.html fo the bolt handle.Hope this helps.Slow

Here u go REP Ret this is the conversan kit i was looking in to http://www.eabco.com/hornady17m2.html i would like to convert a 10/22 over to the mach 2 but i dont want to do it to the only 10/22 i have because i like shooting this rifle i just need to buy a used one and convert it onver to this round

I think the next time I stumble across the right deal on a 10 22 it will become a 17m2.  I have 2 custom 22s that I had so much fun building that I know I will do another one some day.

I just completed a 17HM2 conversion on my 10/22 carbine. I used a Green Mountain Ruger M96 barrel $65 on closeout http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/productDetail.aspx?id=901704, and a Power Custom heavy cocking handle with the included stronger spring for 10/22 17HM2, $50 powercustom.com. Took it to the range yesterday for the first time. Function was pretty good, no bulged cases, but did have a couple failiers to pick up a round. The carbine stock needed a little enlarging of the barrel channel so I went ahead and full floated the barrel. Accuracy so far is not what I was hoping for with groups at 25yds under an inch and over an inch at 50yds. Only tried Hornady 17 grain V-Max in it so far. It may need a little break in time too, only about 50 rounds shot so far.
