BlkHawk73,

My question is, is that really Gary or someone using his name? If it is Gary, he knows better than that.

I've now been called "ignorant" and apparantly am "adept at showing it."  Yup, I'm defiantely spending my money elsewhere.  Was looking at his own stainless framed long cylinder in a .357 max chambering.  Guess that $2500 will go elsewhere now.

I made a post over on Accurate Reloading along the same lines.  I have no desire to support anyone that has a firearms site that has pornographic photos, foul filthy language etc. on it.  Not even just reading his question forums either.
As shooters we have to take a stand against tarnishing our image with supporting such things by buying his products etc in any way..  I used to go there but have since did some soul searching and found that me going there was a bad testament to the way one should live.
No more.

MePlat,

I have a question for you, where on Gary's website did you find porn?!?! I was just on it and didn't see anything like that at all. We are talking about http://www.reedercustomguns.com/ right?
Not saying you didn't see it, but I will be danged if I can find it over there.

I'll tell you where.  It is on his "Ask Reeder Section".  I sent a link to a guy on Accurate Reloading so he could see it as he didn't find any either.
After seeing the girl and reading the filth and trash he said he would not be going back either.  Its there;  some is cleverly hidden in posts etc.
They may be cooling it lately as I am sure someone tipped him off as to the posts on Accurate Reloading but at times it is plentiful.
I am not a crack pot so if I make a statement such as this it is there unless he has went back and deleted it due to the posts on Accurate Reloading.

What the heck is in that link in the original post that has you guys so upset? My computer will not allow me to view it so my computer must think something is wrong with it. I've clicked it several times but my computer refuses to display it for me. I can over ride that but not often do I do that as I have it set to prevent me from accidentally allowing most really bad things into my computer. Most links I click here open with no problem but for sure that one does not.

One other thing Photobucket deletes a lot of the naked women posts  If you see where a post or link was deleted more than likely it contained nudity.

Graybeard:

It is basically a site of his chronies posting photos of naked women.  Some in very suggestive positions and a lot of nasty foul filty language.
I know as I spent some time there trying to justify it by saying i was interested in the gun talk but it go to the point that he was very confortational and very mean mouthed to any except his buddies and even he got on them at time but they are so mesmerized by him they over look it.
Just another MB but with a foul filthy mouth on a site that he says it private but is advertised in American Handgunner and one that can be accessed without a membership. i can send you a couple links to the trash if you will open it.

No that's OK. I just wondered what was there since my computer refused to open it. Generally speaking when my computer refuses to open a link with the settings as I have them I defer to its wisdom and don't over ride it. I've never personally had a particularly high opinion of Reeder altho I generally keep it to myself since I've never had any personal dealings with him.

I've been to his site, seen the images of his work and looked over his ideal of improved rounds and wasn't impressed. I've never seen any of his work first hand or spoken with him via any medium. I guess since I've gotten to the age of 62 without any of his work I'll manage just fine for whatever years I have left.

The discussion was on a .41 magnum Redhawk on Gunbroker.

I posted "Be a shame to ruin such a gun on a rechambering."

His response: "not a shame if you better the cartridge, (censored word)"

I then responded: "To each thier own. Classy response!"

His rebuttal: "it's hard to be classy when dealing with someone that is ignorant and adept at showing it. "

My response: "Please explain how my expressing that rechambering such a model is "ignornat"? This particular model is somewhat of a collecatble for Ruger folks and such work as your rechambering takes away any collectabilty. So, exactly how is my comment "ignorant"?"

His response: "for one, that gun is not a collector. To be a  collector it has to be new in the box with all papers, unfired. That one wasn't. It has been fired quite a bit and had no box with it. The second reason is that the Redhawk flopped badly in 41 magnum. If, by rechambering it to a more powerful cartridge, you increase it's usefulness as a hunting gun, then that makes sense, and is not, as you term it, a shame. This site is a site for handgun hunters and that gun, in a new chambering, makes a great hunting handgun. "

A couple others have since posted up on my side voicing thier opinoons on his behavior.  A pal of his obviosuly came to his defenece with a poor rebuttal "The customer service is great, the personality is consistent, and he only does pimp guns for waterboy. If you are unhappy go elsewhere."

ok so where's the great customer service in calling someone a (censored word) and ignornat?  Regarding pimp guns, all of his wares are covered with sometimes cheezy laser etched graphics.  Sounds like pimp stuff to me.
I also have to say this is by no means the first tme I've haeard of this type of behavior from him.  I've since been told by paying customers about how it's basically his way or no way in regards to what is done to his stuff - so far as which grip frames can be installed or bbl lnegths installed.  No sir, I was planning on a special gun for myself for next yr but like I aid, that $2000 will go elsewhere.

I'm not sure whether or not the posts on Accurate Reloading have an impact on Reeder's site.  MePlat is telling the truth about the content on the forum.  There were a couple of folks trashing poor ol' Meplat for his observations and statement until I put a stop to it.

I've not met the man nor have I handled any of his work.  Based on the behavior I have seen though, I'd be hard pressed to spend any money with him.  I know at least three other 'smiths who treat their customers much better.

MePlat,

OK, cool, I just hadn't seen them, but then I just looked around some to see what was there. I have never had any dealings with him, I know Stimpy has and had nothing but good to say about him. And I wasn't worried about you being a crackpot, just me missing something that was out in the open so to speak.

Dave Clements is the way to go. Gary Reeder used to be good when he first started out but he wouldn't get my money now.

When I was less familiar with the custom revolver trade, I called Reeder to pick his brain about a possible project. He was willing to talk to me but was basically an arrogant, condescendig pr!@k when I asked him about opening cylinder throats. He said the whole undersized throats issue was started by Ross Seyfried and is absolutely unnecessary. By the way, I think he charge $25 per chamber

As for the porn, I don't recall seeing actual pictures, but I do recall that his threads were filled with suggestive comments about women and such. I am pretty thick-skinned and not easily offended, but when I read his posts, it made me not want to do business with him.

I remember seeing those pics of the results of a guy on a motorcycle crashing at 174mph in Oklahoma. Don't know what he hit. To use the word gruesome to describe them would be putting it mildly. Some people might consider those pics a form pf porn. jd45

I've been on his site quite often, for gun content only, unfortunately you get much more of nothing. Pictures are there, check it out on Friday's, seems to be the day there compelled to offer porn. There in the posts and last until photobucket finds them and removes them. He has his views on what "his" guns should be. Nothing wrong with that but don't tell me what you "WILL" give me, and if I can't get it or don't want what is offered I'll move on, (which I have). But what he gives you is top notch, I've handled two Rugers he has worked on and there right up there in quality. He has a following, you will never communicate with just him, smart ass comments are the norm. I've seen this professional also rip other smiths, one time comes to mind with a smith who is well known for his work on T.C. products (remember G.R. also makes barrels and such for T.C. products) "but" in the next post he obviously remembers he is on worldwide and recants somewhat. When the story first broke, initially, on the huge hog taken, a regular showed a link to Graybeards site and the thread. His response was to the effect that, this is what is wrong with this site and other sites similiar to this, "TO MANY EXPERTS". To many experts??, as opposed to what, only "ONE" on Gary reeder custom guns? Take it for what its worth guys, spend your money where you want, apparently his cronies will keep him going in orders.
