Joining Tim in the 10,000 Club
« on: September 04, 2007, 12:18:14 PM »
Even tho Tim is still miles ahead of me in posts I'm now taking my place and joining him in the 10,000 post club. I reckon by now he's passed the 15,000 mark even tho he's been around a lot less time than me. But as of this post I'm now at the 10,000 mark exactly.

Since some posts are on Classifieds and might get deleted it is possible I could drop back before going forward again but as of now I'm 10,000 club member two here.

Congrats Bill!! If my huntin and fishin partner would ever get healthy, you'd have a better chance at catching up, but at this rate, I'll be sittin here in front of the PC more often than not, instead of out shootin and catchin steelhead and salmon which would normally be happenin this time of year. :-\ About all I'm gettin to do lately is get to the range every few weeks, haven't touched a fishin rod for almost a year now, did get some turkey huntin in during April and early May..... until he hurt his self. :'(

Congrates Bill.
You and Tim are the big gabers.
Consider this, I have 1786 posts 8414 to go for 10000.

According to the stats I post 1.366 posts per day. That means to reach 10000
I would need 6013 days or 16.47 years.

Add this to my age this would make me 94, its hard to get that old huh?

Iffen yer gonna turn loose some pigeons wait till I get my shotgun.

Tim my long time best friend, shooting and hunting partner died in 2002. That's a big part of the reason I'm at the computer so much. Otherwise he and I would be out shooting something even if it was the bull.   :o

Sorry to hear that Bill, my best friend and I have been huntin and fishin together since 1973, we don't do as much as we used to when we were younger, but still get out when we can. I dread the thought of loosing him and he me, but that's life, make the best of it whilst we can. ;)

Yup my friend (Billy Doss) was far closer to me than my brother even. We shared a lot of things together and were mighty close. It was a terrible loss and I still miss him greatly. We spent a lot of time at his house. His wife and I graduated high school together and he graduated with my older sister so we all grew up together other than my wife who only met him after we married. Friday nights at Billy and Jo's house was standard fare for many years with us. I still dunno what to do with my Friday nights.

Shooting and hunting have neither been the same since his death and in fact I've hunted darn few days since then. Most of my shooting now is skeet shooting where there are others I've known for years around but no one can ever replace a best friend of so many years.

Congratulations Bill.  Perhaps there should be a moniker for the 10K club.  That would be an exclusive membership, for sure.

I have a friend that I have been hanging out with for twenty years.  Cycle touring, hunting, shooting and gun shop crawling are annual Saturday events and have been throughout our friendship.  We've each had our close calls in life where we thought the other would move on to the next world.  He has seen my children grow up and become parents.  A confirmed bachelor finally taking the jump, I will be the best man at his upcoming wedding.

When the day comes that he does move into the after life, there will be a void in my life that will never be filled.

Congrates to you Mr G.B.!! At the present rate I will join the 10,000 club in 20.5 years. ;D

I know what you all mean about losing a best friend, shooting and hunting partner, lost mine 16 years ago on aug 25th at the age of 32 and to make it worse it was on his 32nd birthday.Still bothers me to this day and guess it always will. Can't help but think sometimes of all the things that were missed in those 16 years.

Hang in there Bill and congratulations on the 10K. You had your best friend Bill and he will live live on forever in your heart and mind.
I firmly believe we will all meet again, and in a better place too....<><....:)

You know reading these posts reminds me of a LOT of the reasons we hunt, and why it's hard for non hunters to understand the bonds we from, and the enjoyment we get by just "being there".

Whoever said men don't bond, never spent much, or any, time in a hunting camp.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Tim has his own special title assigned him by Matt hadn't you noticed? He is designated as GBO M.V.P. and it's a one of a kind. On the other hand I share my title of Admin with Matt who won't be in the 10,000 club if he lives to be 100 years old. But since he burns the candle at both ends and at times even in the middle he's not likely to reach that kinda age.  :o

Congrats GB!

Also, the fish and critters of SW Washington and NW Oregon thank you for providing this site.  They feel much safer with Tim behind the computer rather than behind a rod or rifle.   ;)

If it wasn't for Tim and GB and Matt (and a few others like Mac, Fred, Stimpy, MSP Ret, handirifle, trotterlg, shaner - and I'm going to stop now because it will just turn into a big list of folks!) I would likely spend much less time on this site than I do (and these days I'm spending less than usual anyway).

An the reason I spend time here is because I value the contributions and efforts the above mentioned give. I learn a lot, I am amused, I am saddened, I am provoked, I am awed, I am touched, I am challenged, and I am engaged.

On a perfectly selfish level - I get something of value here, so I keep coming back. Simple as that.

Thanks Guys!!
