ejector question ?

hello..here's my question i just bought a 2004 model in 280 with the ejector...my only other ejector i have experiance with i sold last winter...i picked up  some factory ammo & decided to drop one in the chamber to see if it fit's fairly flush with the end off the barrel-chamber...it just drop's straight  in...maybe i got used to two extracor model's & think the latch should alway's grab the head of the brass..i guess i forget how they load...is this right ??

With the barrel broke all the way open, unlike an extractor which doesn't drop, the ejector claw drops down and won't stop the case from going all the way in, that's normal. ;)

thank's tim...i figured it was probably working right as it eject's the case like a rocket launcher...just couldn't remember for sure...thank's.
