Had a very good day yesterday at the range...I got to shoot my new 243 barrel along with my Weatherby Sub MOA 30-06...and my Winchester 223 HV...all of them did exceptionally well with the Federal Fusion ammo...Here's my first shots for the Elite 243...
I had rough bore sighted it at home a few days before..Winds were 90 deg. left to right at the time of shooting these groups...the temp was hovering on the 95 deg. mark...low humidity thank God...so it wasn't too bad...Distance was on the 100 yard mark...
The load was the Federal Fusion 95 grain factory load...and the scope was the Mueller 8.5x25 Tactical set on 12 power to get it on the target...then switched it to 25 power for the final 3 shots...
Shots 1 thru 3 were shoot and dial the scope then shoot again......the 4th shot hit the 3" stick on dot at the 2 o'-clock position...and I dialed it another 1/2" to the left and 1" down...and got this 3 shot group of .447"...which after subtracting the bullet diameter comes out at .204"..It's a shooter...I shot my Winchester 223 HV with some of the Fusion Ammo...and it shoots great too...as does my new Weatherby Sub-MOA 30-06...I let it cool as much as I could in the 95 degreee heat...then shot these groups with it...from a sitting position on the ground using the same ammo..I shot the box on the top first to see if the zero held...it did...then shot the 3 shots in the bull using my knees to steady it...and the 5th shot was free hand sitting...Looks like my deer hunting load will be factory ammo if I keep it as a 243...which I might...I hate messing up a good barrel
The Fusion ammo is some really good stuff...and my Winchester really likes them too...Here's a 10 shot group with it I shot while letting the 243 barrel cool off...
I had to double check...and the 223 Fusion is 63 grains...not 60 as I had originally wrote down...so...it should do just as well on deer as the 63 grain Sierra most folks like......and most likely it should hold together even better seeing that it is a bonded bullet...
Not bad ehh
