Ruger .17 HMR Single Six.....
« on: June 21, 2003, 07:57:40 AM »
Has anyone here shot one of the new Ruger Single Sixes chambered for the .17 HMR??

If they are consistently accurate like most all the rifles that are chambered for this round, it would make a great little small game / pest control handgun!

I have a 5.5" barrel single six w/ .22lr & .22 mag cylinders, but seems that most of these are NOT very accurate when using the .22 mag cylinder (including mine).  I've rounded up 12 different types of .22 mag ammo, now just got to make it to the range to see if it will shoot just one of these with good accuracy!?  If it will I'd be very happy, wish me luck!

Del:

I don't have the .17 Single Six YET...  Have to pay off the Win 9417 I put on layaway this morning first.  (Just happened across one before finding a .17 Single Six).

I hope you find a 22Mag brand that works.  Mine has the same barrel as yours.  I lived up there (in Eagle River) for 15 years and never shot the mag cylinder--used LRs on snowshoes, spruce hens, etc.  Down here I put the mag cylinder in and carry it on the deer lease.  It's as deadly with CCI ammo [stock # 0024, I think] as with any LR ammo.  I usually carry it with those CCI 22mag shotshells as the first two rounds to go (we've got rattlesnakes).

CCI maxi mag and Federal Gold box premium with 30 gr hp are both very accurate in both of mine.
