Alcan #7 and SVPER BALISTITE powders
« on: September 16, 2007, 06:44:44 AM »
A deacon at my church gave me a large box of old reloading stuff he has had for years, most of the manuals are from 1979-1980.  In the box was two tins of SVUPER BALISTITE powder by Baschieri and Peallgri of Bologna,Italy and a three lb. canister of Alcan #7 powder that as far as I can see has never been opened.  Anybody remember these powders.  I have loading shotshells for 22 years and haven't run across these till now.  Remember reading about Alcan years ago.  He also had two boxes (12 and 20 gauge) fiber wad discs.  The powders appear to be in good shape. Don't know that I would ever use them, just put them on the shelf.  My reloading room is beginning to look like an old country hardware store anyway!

The Alcan products were big when I started reloading back in the late 60's.  Used a lot of their Al 5, 7, and 8 in loading shot shells back then.  Also used their plastic and fiber wads and shot cups.  Winchester, Remington, and others  got into the reloading game and Alcan sort of faded away.  Also used their powders in the reloading of handgun ammo.
Never said I didn''t know how to use one.
