I'm a late reading this one. I can see Fred M's side if you want to look at it with a traditional eye. On the other hand I think that is a great design when needing to pull from a scabbard. Great thread and great posts, F50 you did an excellent job of the two designs I would choose yours as my need would be the same. See everybody wins.

I've decided out of respect for Fred I will now call these "Long Stock" rifles and not full mannlichers. I am having no accuracy problems have RTV'd this one and the Stinger .308.  - F50
