winchester 1300 extractor question
« on: September 24, 2007, 09:30:07 PM »
HI all ,new to the forums but am really enjoying them . I have a question concerning a winchester 1300 xtr 20ga i recently bought. The gun was filthy so I took it apart to clean it ,I took it completely down except for the trigger group. After cleaning and putting it back together, the extractor was no longer spring loaded. My question ,does the spring on the chamber end of the firing pin have a place hook to the extractor clip or did i lose a part and not see it or is the firing pin spring  broken ? Question #2 the same gun has had a choke tube seperate from the threads ,how can i get the threads out of my barrel ?

The extractor spring hooks the inside end of the extractor and powers it. If you missed that hook it's the likely problem. I've included a link to a parts diagram but if it fails look under Brownells. They have few parts left but still have the diagrams loaded. In the diagram #73 is the spring which powers #74, the extractor..

Whoops! forgot to address the second question. I'm not an expert but they may come out if a different type choke tube is installed.. Or the barrel may simply have to be cut back.. I'd check with someone more versed in the measurements of various choke systems.. Mike Orlen comes to mind..
