357 Herrett ammo??
« on: September 25, 2007, 01:21:31 PM »
Where can I get ammo for a 357 Herrett?
I handload but don't have a set of dies for the 357.
I have one source in Ga. hopefully there are others.

Check with Reed that has an add here on Graybeard, he does custom ammo. The cases are not that hard to make, and are not hard to load for. I wish I had kept one of the 10" barrels to go with the 14" barrel I have. It is a good deer round.

Pick up a set of dies and a case trimmer and roll your own.  Simple round to load.  For the last couple years I've used 375 Winchester brass rather than 30-30 due to advice of an individual on this board.  I can't imagine custom loaded rounds such as this being cheap.  The difference in money will go a long way to dies and components.

OK if I need to reload, anybody got a set of 357 Herrett dies for sale?

I don't reload but I looked on Midways site and they had all the stuff for it...couldn't tell you what all you need...but I did notice they had some formed brass for that round also...kinda pricey but if you already reload should help save some time...

I think that's a fair price at Buffalo, except that this round needs to be headspaced to the shoulder not the rim. And I don't think T/C cut any of the Herrett's to the same depth, each one is an individual. And needs to be reloaded for as such.
