How to Smooth Up Earlier Encore Trigger?

Hey Guys,

I have an early model Encore that I bought maybe a year after they came out.  I think it is about 5 years or so old.  The trigger is like pulling a tractor out of the mud.  It is very stiff and creepy and it doesn't pull at the same weight every time.  I have a boatload of Contenders and they all are slick as greased icy glass.  I really expected better and I thought it was just mine.  I have a friend who bought one about the same time and his is as bad as mine.  He took it to a FBN local gunsmith (Fly By Night) and he worked on it and it did not help a bit that I can tell.  As good as all the other TC stuff is there must be a better way to fix these.  I assume with the Smith buyout and the improved quality control I've heard about, they are better now with the newer ones.  I have a .270 Winchester rifle barrel and a .35 Whelen and I would like to do some accurate shooting with them as I do with my Contender stuff.  I have never even mounted the .35 barrel because the trigger is so bad it's useless.  Does anyone know of a fix or do you think TC might help fix this?  I enjoy this forum and your advice is valuable to me.

i took mine to my gunsmtih and he changed i think a spring it breaks at 3lbs. take it to someone it seems like a hard trigger to adjust i might work on some when i get my licenses to work on them

  If you do a search, type "Encore Trigger Job" in yahoo, you will find instructions from someone who's name I dare not mention for fear of being "Black-balled" on this site.
  I downloaded the free instructions and did it myself. I did not replace any springs; I didn't need to lighten mine. I just wanted to make it smooth. After I finished, it turned out exactly like I wanted. No perceivable creep, it breaks clean and crisp. You will need good stones; the stones that he sells are good to have.
  I'm not a "Smith", but I'm very mechanically inclined and I had no problems doing it. I just read the instructions thoroughly several times until I was comfortable with the procedure before I started.

I had Stratton Custom Guns (formerly Virgin Valley) do my trigger. Threw it in a box and came back a week later. Smooth as glass!
