Any SB2 H&R 45-70 rifle can accommodate the Garrett, Grizzly and Buffalo Bore ammo.

But can your shoulder???????

I tried some in a really heavy Browning BPCR that must have weighted over 12 pounds and they kicked the snot outta me. I think I fired one group only and considered that more than adequate.

I think the generally short throat of most H&R 45-70s would be a problem, heavy bullet loads that are made for Ruger levels are usually loaded to quite a bit longer overall length than regular lever gun loads. For instance, Hornady shows their 500gr jacketed loads as 2.925", and Lyman uses 2.930" for their 535gr bullet.

If the Garrett is anything like a 700 grain bullet out of a 500 S&W handi  with a max load, then get a lead sled or put a bag of shot between the gun and your shoulder.   That is serious recoil.  More than is fun.

i was asking because i was thinking it would be pretty cool for a $250 gun to be able to be adequately and efficently capable of hunting deer, griz.,buffalo and Africa's big 5 or 6  . a repeater would be better for the dangerous stuff though .

I wouldn't recommend shooting Ruger level loads regularly IF you can stand the recoil, the underlug will likely set back sooner or later as it does with top loads in the 500S&W, then it will require a new barrel or some home improvements. :'(

Garrett's 45-70 ammo is 35,000 PSI max, the Ruger #1 can handle 50,000 CUP 45-70 loads.  Hence, BOOTYMONSTER is not proposing to use Ruger #1 45-70 maximum loads in the HandiRifle.

I'd have had to shoot you with a handgun Digger cuz my shoulder was hurting too bad fer another shot. I got another cortisone shot in it today so in a few days hopefully I'll be ok for another few months.
