Reloading for 49/56 MAS French 7.5 x 55
« on: September 28, 2007, 06:04:51 AM »
Does anyone have any thoughts about where I might find reloading data for the French 7.5 x 55 caliber.

I see my Lee manual has it listed, but they just used the 30-40 Krag data.  The 30-40 runs under 40,000 psi plus it has a smaller case than the 7.5 x 55.  I doubt that the 30-40 loads will even function in the semiauto MAS.  My other manuals don't list the 7.5 x 55.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use middle of the road 308 win data for my MAS, many of these French rifles have been converted to 308 win and handle 308 loads no problem.  The 7.5x54mas case has slightly more case capacity so you'll come off with slightly less pressure than if you were loading 308 win cases.

7.5x55 is the Swiss round that K-31's shoot
7.5x54 is the FRENCH round that MAS'es shoot

Thanks, Krochus!   Yup:  7.5 x 54.  Why didn't I get that right the first time?...

I'll peruse the .308 data for what I need.
