What does the Series H mean on a Fox Model B
« on: September 08, 2007, 10:44:55 AM »
Just acquired this Savage Arms , Westfield Massachusetts,  Model B , 20GA. SxS with a ventilated rib barrel.  After the 'FOX B' it reads  'Series H'.   Was wondering what that stands for?
It's in very good condition.   Anyone know how old it may be?   Ser# B 891_ _ _

I just came across an old article that may give a clue to the meaning of the 'H' Series of the FOX Model B.
The 'H' represents features found on that particular gun.
These are : The gauge, 12 and 20.    Light Engraving on the Receiver.       Standard grade Wood.

I'd still like to know how old this one is. :D

May be getting somewhere.   Savage Arms gave me the address of a Mr. John Callahan, whom they gave all their records of serial #'s and information.      Just received a letter from him today, stating that for a small  'FEE'  he would research all the information on my gun.   Just send him the Serial# and Model.   He has records for both Savage and Steven's.    The research fee varies from  gun to gun.   Anywhere from $25 for mine up to $30 for Stevens and unidentifiable guns,  and $30 to $40 for the old ancient A.H. Fox guns.

So, I put a check in the mail with the required info.    Takes about six (6) weeks to get an answer.  I will try and post it...
