Automatic tranny ATVs

 Looking at buying a new ATV.  Nothing big and bulky.  It'll just be for around the house stuff and the occasional trail ride.  Don't need a monster with winch, lockers, etc.   Used to ride a bunch yrs ago but not since.  I like the Polaris Scrambler (rather have the 400) but not against others.  Not very familiar with who makes what now though.  I kinda gotta have an automatic (no levers) so the wife can adapt easy to it kid too in a few years.  Just want throttle lever and brake.  So who else makes something of this sort?

We have a Suzuki Eiger 400, it was rated as one of the best midsize bikes in 2005. It is automatic with hi-lo range. I use it for carting hunters around and the wife and I on weekends, it's got plenty of power to haul 2 200# people. Also plows lots of snow. It has 1500 mi. on it now, no problems so far.

Don't think anyone does really. Just like in your car or truck you gotta have a shift lever to go from forward to neutral to reverse but it's that simple. I have a 2005 Yamaha Bruin 350 with the auto transmission and love it. But you have a lever at the left under the handlebar. You push in the foot brake and shift it to R-N-F as you wish and then do nothing more until you wanna change direction from forward to reverse. You can even crank it in gear as long as the hand brake is set.

  that's what I'm meaning I'm used to those bikes, etc that have the standard manula shifting but for my wife and for what I'll be using this for, I want just a automatic.  I'm well aware of the whole F-N-R shifting necceccisty.

Auto/tranny's are pretty much the standard fare these days. It's getting more difficult today to find a new ATV with manual transmission.   Everyone makes a small to mid-size atv with auto transmission.  Most simply have a forward, neutral, and reverse setting on a lever somewhere, and the thumb throttle.   One nice thing with the autos that used to not be on the manual shift models is the larger floor boards.  They fit big to little feet.  Alot of the models have or used to have a throttle limiter screw so you could keep the little guys from going too fast, until they were old and experienced enough to handle it.
