Well after it took me a while to get my hands on some ammo, I finally made it to the range. I managed to get some 200 gr. Fusion rounds ($24.95 a box) and they shot very well. I didn't do any shot groups due to the fact that I was breaking in the barrel. I also got my hands on some high dollar ammo ($44.95 a box). It was Federal premium, 180 gr Nosler Accubond rounds. Will not shoot these till I am ready to get gun ready for the woods. Boy that is some high dollar stuff. Glad I reload.
I have reloaded some 215 gr. Sierra GameKings and also 200 gr. Hornaday Interlock bullets. I will start with Win 748. I will also try some IMR 4895 and 3031. I got plenty of the old stuff and want to give it a try. I got the 748 because of I have been told to try the medium burn powder first with this new round. Will give you guys an update when I finish the test rounds.
Now as to the Kimber. This is my first Kimber and I am more then impressed! I was very surprised with the mild recoil of this small gun. I think with the VX-II scope, it weighs just over six pounds. I honestly think the recoil is comparable with a .30-06. The fit and finish of this gun is sweet. I am in love with it and will have many good years in the woods with it.
