want to get into shotshell reloading

i have been wanting to do this for some time. i am just wondering what ill need to start. all powder equipemnt and stuff press etc. i have nothing for it. i am wanting to spend $200 at max

well, see if you can get a Lee Load all press,they're cheap and work really good. then you need your shot,primers,wads and empty shells of course, and powder. The Lee Load all comes with several shot and powder bushings to choose from for different loads. You should pick up some loading data as well. Keep in mind each brand of shell may require a slight load change from the other.
 I have been reloading ammo for years now, both shotgun and rifle.My Lee Load all press has given me several years of great service with no problems. I use RCBS equipment for all my metallic loading.
 I think even at today's prices,this would all be under $200.00.

I would recommend the MEC 600JR as the best starting point. It's a life time investment that you can hand down to your kids and they can continue using and hand down to theirs. Without knowing what gauge you plan to load it's hard to suggest components really. BUT I find Claybuster wads to be the best buy for the money regardless of gauge. Primers these days as well as shot has gone out of sight price wise.

The imported primers are close to $50 per 5000 cheaper these days than domestic brands but still run $100 or better per 5000 generally. I paid $110 out the door last month for some RIO brand. Our club is placing an order this month for targets and we always order supplies for members who want them. The cheapest shot is $34 per bag and Lawrence is $38.50 per bag and the imported primers are gonna run $90/5000 while domestic labeled ones are $150/5000.

Tell us what guage and what use you plan to use and we can suggest powders to you. I generally use Winchester AA or Remington Premier STS hulls.

Get a manual first. I would recommend the Lyman. It will give you recipes and will explain how changing anything in the recipe may cause large pressure increases.

i plan on loading 12 gage 2 3/4 and 3 1/2 or 3inch if i cannot afford 3 1/2in. i used to reload a little 20 some years ago but sold everything and now looking to getting back into it. back then i didn't really do anything. maybe 40shells total. but i already have shells and i did keep a bunch of winchester primers that still work in the encore and they are 20 years old. so they should be fine. i have no shot and do not remember what type of powder to use anymore. and they will be used for buck shot 000, #6 turkey loads 3 1/2, and dove loads 2 3/4. thats about all i will load. i cannot make up my mind on the 000 buck and i may just buy that ammo.

I'd advise buying the buck shot and 3.5" loads both. I can offer no advice on those. I'm not even sure that today's loaders are adjustable to load those super long ones. Mine won't.

ok thanks. i can't afford the 3.5inch one. it cost right at $300 and it only loads 3.5.
