Question for Quick
« on: October 03, 2007, 07:18:43 AM »
I am wondering why the thread on "Thumbhole Stock" is locked?  I'd like to ask a couple of questions but can't post.  Maybe you can answer my main question.  Is that the same stock as the rrarms rifles that came from Boyds?  Thanks.

Dunno which Thumbhole stock thread you're referring to, there are several, post a link to it and we'll check it out. The firearms that RR sells come with Boyd's stocks, the same ones that H&R is now selling as an accessory for $122.50, althought the butt pads may be diffferent, dunno yet, see D Hiker's post down the page.

I think D Hiker's thread is the one he is refering to.

It does appear to be locked for no reason.

Ya got me why it was locked, but it's not now!! I thought maybe the locked thread was one of the older threads on the Boyd's stocks that became a dead horse beating  thread.  :D

Thanks everyone.  I love it here.  Gotta question, just ask y'all.

It was the thread from D Hiker.  And thanks, Quick.  I first saw those stocks in one of your posts a while back.  I've wanted one since then but didn't need to buy a whole new rifle.  Now I can just get the accessory stock from H&R and be happy. ;D  I don't need to send in my receiver, do I?

Thanks again.

Just call and order it, should be no fitting required, although it may be best to glass bed the butt stock to the frame so it increases the strength of the mating surface, that was discussed in one of the t-hole threads.

I have one of each color, the camo butt matches the checkered camo forend that they've always offered, same for the cinnamon from how mine matches my other laminated forends. Be sure to ask for a stock bolt if they offer it, it's a 3/8"-24 x 2" button socket head, kinda hard to find.

No time to get it ordered this afternoon so it'll have to wait until tomorrow morning.  I shoot an Ultra with cinnamon stocks so I'm going to ask if they have the thumbholes in cinnamon.  If not, a camo lam will do suit me just fine.  And thanks for the advice on the bolt.  I'll order one of those, too.

Tim, PMing you info on locked status.

When she called she confirmed that I wanted the camo laminated thumbhole stock and forend.  I totally forgot to ask for a mounting screw.  I'll get a hold of her and see if the box has left yet or if they included a screw with the set.

Thank you.  I remember when you had to make the big screw run.  Have you heard of any more problems that others thought they were going to have with the e-bay laminate thumbhole stocks?  The whole topic went quiet.  I figured everyone must have been satisfied or resolved to live with what they had.

I didn't get through on the phone so I sent her an email.  I should get a response in the morning.

I've seen nothing new on the ebay Boyd's stocks or problems with them.

Just ordered the thumbhole stock.  Only camo lams at this time.  She said they have ordered the cinnamon but probably won't be available until next year.  And the stock does come with the bolt.  Can't wait to get it mounted a shoot a few rounds.   ;D ;D

Thanks for the info on the bolt being included.  My emails to hr1871 from my yahoo account were blocked as bulk mail.  I haven't had that happen before when I emailed them.  So I sent an email from my work email, it went through, I got confirmation that the email was read this morning at 7:45am hr1871 time.  But I didn't get a response to the email yet.
