I think they hired a Low Bid farirer... cause the ponies seem to be throwing shoes Way to often.

I have had a number od Priority Mail packages take a week to 10 days this year, Very poor service, but where I live, UPS and Fed-Ex are not really a option.  I had a Chain Saw File shipped from SC that took just over 3 Months to get here, and a MP3 player that showed Delivered but never made it to my PO Box. ~Ace~

I was just wondering how you sent it? Did you send it  Priority Mail or parcel post? I have had parcel post packages take 10 or 12 days to get there. Dale

I agree parcel post can take forever sometimes. Where is Tim? I thought for sure he would have an opinion on this one.

Since the rate change in May, many folks that used to ship Priority, now find it too expensive to ship, so they opt for standard mail(parcel post, IE 4th Class), delivery time can be as much as a week to 10 days normally, sometimes longer. I ship everything priority mail, it may cost a bit more, but it will be delivered in 2 day 99% of the time anywhere in the US, the last two frames I sent in for barrels cost me less than $10 each, insured with free delivery confirmation, they received both of em in 2 days, granted, they were both just frames, no stock set, I ordered stock sets for both of em since I like complete Handis. But Priority gets there quick, less handling, less chance for something to go wrong, damaged, destroyed, stolen, or whatever, pack it properly, and it'll get there, a little hint,  you can't put too much tape on a package, and USPS even offers free priority tape!! ;)

Folks are quick to point out a problem with mail delivery, but they never mention all the thousands of deliveries they've received in the past that were trouble free and for pennies in postage to boot!! When you consider the 212 billion pieces of mail delivered each year by the USPS, how relatively few misdeliveries/problems there really are.  I got to deal will too damn many ignorant customers in over 32yrs of USPS service, 99% of delivery issues are caused by improper addresses or improper packaging on the part of the mailer. If I had a nickel for every misdelivery I researched that turned out to be the mailer's fault or misinformation from the mailer, I'd be wealthy!! There is no tracking on delivery confirmation mail, the only tracking available is for Express mail, delivery confirmation provides just that, confirmation of delivery, it usually provides time of mailing if accepted at a retail unit and sometimes an arrival scan or scan at a bulk mail facility.

The USPS gets the blame for waaaay to many delayed deliveries, the mailer says it was mailed, when in fact it may not have been. If the mailer uses Click-N-Ship, which is the USPS' online shipping, a delivery confirmation shipping label is generated and the electronic transmission of the mailing is entered into the system as being electronically transmitted, but not necessarily actually in the hands of the USPS. If that item gets accepted by the USPS and scanned, there will be another entry in the system showing acceptance, if that acceptance scan doesn't happen, there's no proof it actually got mailed or when it went in the mail system.

I have wanted to re-use a couple of boxes because they were the right size, but they were covered with previous labels and markings on the boxes.  Or it was a box from a product purchase with all of the product information on it.  A long time ago I remember wrapping packages with plain brown paper before mailing them.  But it seems to me that I heard the post office will no longer accept paper wrapped packages.  Does anyone know if this is true?  If not I'll ask at the post office on my next trip, but by the time I get done standing in line I forget to ask and just want to take care of business.

Another reason to use Click-N-Ship, no standing in line to worry about. ;)  Wrapping a package in paper is discouraged since the wrapping may be destroyed when there's a jam on high speed conveyors, if you use plenty of tape, it should be fine tho, once the wrapping is destroyed, the address is gone and it will definitely impact delivery in a timely manner.  ;)

Thank you for the information.  Hmmm Click-N-Ship, that would sure make it easier.

I have always been a firm believer in the liberal use of shipping tape, it is cheap insurance.  I have sent smaller packages that ended up being completely covered in tape.  I didn't want any water to smudge the ink on the mailing label printed on my ink jet printer.  I think I still have a partial roll of that brown craft paper around here and I did find 5 or 6 rolls of shipping tape.  You know, it always seemed easier to buy another roll of tape than to look for the one that I might have around the house.  But now that the kids have left the house I am finding all sorts of stuff that was missing    ;D

The USPS has always done good by me.  Although I haven't figured out why I can send my son a letter from IL to TX and it only takes 3 days, 4 days max and it takes 7 to 8 days when he sends me a letter.

The next time you get a letter from him, PM me some details of the letter, postage, postmark, any machine marks front or back, ect. ;)
