NEF Should Have Made This
« on: October 03, 2007, 02:41:39 PM »
Since the guys on the Savage forum don't seem interested, I thought I'd share my latest woodsbummin' gun.  .30-30/20 Savage 24V Series B

That would be cool. When I was a kid I hunted with a Stevens 22-410 with a tenite stock. My brother ended up with it after my dad died.

That's a beauty buddy, I still have the .22 LR/20 gauge I gave my daughter years ago, it is kept in the gun locker here at home. I would really like to find one for a reasonable price similar to yours coyotes and deer, and I would not be to picky about the caliber(s) either, 30-30, .223, 30-06, 12 gauge, 16 gauge, or 20 gauge.
My coyote hunting buddy had a 24V model in .223 and 12 gauge that the barrel blew right off the lug when he shot a "Dead Coyote" load though it, he was able to recoup most of the money he had invested in the gun but the gun was ruined. He would still like to find another, as would I, but you can be sure he will never shoot the same ammo in another, if he can ever replace the gun, which is unlikey....<><....:(

I want to get a .22Mag/20.

My first choice would be the .357/20 but they are way to pricey for me.

I agree! I love these guns. When I was a kid my brother had a 22lr/20ga that was a lot of fun to shoot. I really like the older models with the wood stock. Particularity the deluxe model with the nickle finish receiver. I would love to have one of those in 22mag/20ga. I don't like the present offerings from Savage with the synthetic stock and the separate barrels. They are ugly looking in my opinion. Savage should let H&R make them like the older models with the connected barrels and wood stocks. I bet they would sell very well. I do like the fact that the newer  24's offer more choices for calibers/gauges.

My Dad got one for me and my brothers when I was 12.  It was .22LR-.410ga.  I used it to take a lot of squirrels, rabbits, grouse, and Phesent.  Even took a few ducks.  That one was lost in a house fire.  Three years ago my wife and son gave me a new one in .223-12ga.  My new one has a synthetic stock, I like to use it when calling.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
