Iron sight installation
« on: October 05, 2007, 03:45:14 PM »
Who in Alabama or Georgia can install iron sights on rifles without iron sights?  I have a ss Ruger 77 and I am planning on purchasing another rifle without iron sights.  I want to install them as backup to scope.  Are there any links to iron sights?  I had a link to someone in New England who sold iron sights that were custom made to fit today's rifles.   I would like the link if someone has it and if anyone knows who can drill and tap or silver solder new ones on.  Thanks.  I guess I may have to keep shopping around gun shows to find older rifles or custom rifles if I can't find what I am looking for.  I like stainless steel, I like claw extractors, and I like iron sights.  I also like this on non-safari guns.  Thanks.

Brownells has an on line catalog and they sell sights for nearly any rifle or situation.. The folks in New England were likely 'New England Custom Gun'. they make specialty sights and after market sight for many rifles. You might want to call Ruger and tell them your wishes. They may have a sight system that will work on your rifle, even if the rifle came without iron sights. Try some of the local gun stores for who services. If they don't have the service they may know someone who can help. The normal Ruger front sight is on a barrel band, the rear attachs cia 2 screws at the rear of the barrel..
