Stevens 200 aftermarket recoil pad
« on: October 08, 2007, 08:20:40 PM »
Maybe someone here has info on this.I have a 2 yr old Stevens 200 synthetic stock in 30-06.I'm looking for an aftermarket recoil pad that is made to fit this rifle.Does anyone make a precision fit recoil pad for this stock ? Something like Limbsaver or Pacmayer ?
I have seen in various forums that the Stevens 200 is basically a Savage 110 ,is this correct and if so should i be looking for a recoil pad for a Savage 110 synthetic stock ? Any help is appreciated.

I have an older model Savage 110 and I bought a Bell and Carson Duramaxx stock for the rifle. Huge improvement in terms of stock rigidity and quality. It comes with a prefitted Pachmayr recoil pad. My rifle is 7mm Rem Mag and I can testify as to the effectiveness of the recoil pad. You can get the complete stock in black for about $90, more if you want other colors. I would highly recommend changing the whole thing. I also bought a stainless trigger guard and screws from Sharp shooter supply, you would fall in love with your rifle all over again. I enclose a pic of mine which now sports a Nikon Monarch and Dednutz 1 piece scope mount. Yes the Stevens is the basically the same as the Savage 110 and the stock would fit.

The Pachmayr pad for the 110 synthetic fits perfectly.  Cabela's has it on page 60 of their shooter's catalog.  I have one on my .308 and am happy with it.

I think if you like your existing stock enough to live with it then get the recoil pad but if you're even thought about a new stock, Id just get the new stock.

I just got a stevens 200 and I've already bought the paint for the stock if I need to add a recoil pad to tame it, I will just buy a new stock that already has the better recoil pad.

Shooter, go the whole hog and get the stainless trigger guard from SSS. It looks a lot better now with the new scope and rings etc. I'm in China for another 3 weeks so can't really post a newer photo. The stock is like night and day compared to the factory original. I chose the olive with black spiderweb as I thought it looked good, it looks even better in real life.
