Bake on finish on a barrel??
« on: October 08, 2007, 04:25:14 PM »
I have been looking at some of the bake on finishes offered by Brownells. Will coating my barrel with this product and baking it in the oven at 325 degrees harm the metal in the barrel?
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

No.  Oven baking spray-on finishes does not harm the barrel.  It requires more than twice those temperatures to affect the metallurgy of barrel steel.

John's right here. I've powder coated several modern guns which requires 400 degrees to fuse and none have had any problems.
